Waterwise
International Partner
Waterwise is a UK NGO focused on decreasing water consumption in the UK by 2010 and building the evidence base for large scale water efficiency. We are the leading authority on water efficiency in the UK. Waterwise is an independent, not for profit organisation that receives funding from the UK water industry and from sponsorship and consultancy work. In England, we sat on the Environment Minister’s Water Saving Group alongside the water industry and regulators. Waterwise set up the Saving Water in Scotland Network. To achieve our aim we work together with key partners in the water companies, governments (UK, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and local governments), manufacturers, retailers, NGOs, environmentalists, regulators, agriculture, business, domestic consumers and the media. ‘Waterwise is proud to support Australia’s savewater! awards®. It is excellent that the savewater!® Alliance has opened its doors to international products. There are many great water saving products in the UK and some have already received the Waterwise Marque – our endorsement programme for water efficient products. Despite what many people may think saving water in the UK is just as important as saving water in Australia. The UK is perceived as being very wet, however we have less water per person available then most of our northern European neighbours and we actually receive less rainfall on an annual basis than Sydney.’ Says Chris Philpot, Communications Manager, Waterwise. |
