Photographic Award – Secondary Schools
The photographic award is designed to recognise creative digital talent by capturing water conservation imagery as the key focus. What’s your lens been capturing? Such imagery will be used in water saving campaigns across Australia.
Congratulations to our winners, Georgia Wiggs (Secondary - equal first) and Suzanne Mackie (Secondary, equal first)
WINNER (Secondary) – Georgia Wiggs (equal first) and Suzanne Mackie (equal first)
‘Keep water usage on your mind’ by Georgia Wiggs
The Peninsula School (equal first)
‘Will the drought ever end?’ by Suzanne Mackie
Charleville State High School (equal first)
Judges’ comment (Suzanne Mackie): An image of desperation and hope. The arm of this child is outstretched with his hat held high in the hope of capturing any water that might fall fro the sky. His look is beseeching and moves the viewer to empathise with him imploring the heavens to send some water down. This use of a child in this image builds the emotional impact as he represents our future and shows awareness of the critical water situation on children.
3RD PLACE (Secondary) – Dylan Tew
‘Put a cork in it’ by Dylan Tew - Distance Education Centre Victoria (DECV)
FINALIST (Secondary) – Dylan Tew and Emily Gall
‘Splish Splash’ by Dylan Tew
Distance Education Centre Victoria (DECV)
‘No water, no future’ by Emily Gall
Warrnambool College
Judges’ comment (Emily Gall): A clever use of water condensation on a window to relay the important message that without water there is no life and that “every drop counts”.
