Andrew Forster-Knight

Andrew Forster-Knight has been employed by South East Water for the last six years and since July 2005, has been seconded into the ‘US’ (Utility Services) alliance, which handles the operation and maintenance of South East Water’s infrastructure assets.

Using his knowledge of data collection, Andrew built a new and unique system which collects data using mobile phone infrastructure and a web interface. The system, known as HydroShare, allows customers to observe their water usage patterns at a granular level - typically at five minute intervals. It allows for leaks, abnormal usage and process inefficiencies to be instantly viewable by the customer through a secure website and thus allows the customer to actually quantify the potential and real savings.

HydroShare empowers large water users across Australia to better manage and save our precious resource.

Judges’ comment: Andrew’s initiative shows tremendous development and innovation. His product is being used all across Australia and significant water savings are being identified through its use.

Jonathon Sciola

Jonathon Sciola is the founder of ‘Jonno’s Car Wash’, a mobile waterless car wash that uses organic, Australian-made waterless products. His innovative approach to the car-wash industry has helped contribute to a massive change in the behaviours of various other car dealers, who have followed suit and adopted a ‘no water’ approach to car washing.

Jonathon has also developed a home-care range of cleaning products, which are available through various retailers and online distribution channels world-wide. The products are free from petrochemicals and toxic materials.

Judges’ comment: Jonathon has shown that he is an innovative business man who has developed a great product.
