Northern Health
Northern Health is on track to save 20.611ML of water per year - and nearly $45,000 in recurrent expenditure - across its four health sites. That’s equivalent to almost 5,647 buckets of water every day.

According to Dr Andrew Perrignon, Chief Executive Officer Northern Health, the company’s significant water saving has been achieved through collaboration and planning.
“On the back of the water efficiency audit, we developed a water management plan with Yarra Valley Water outlining our commitment to reducing water consumption without compromising patient care,” says Dr Perrignon. “We are the first public hospital to have completed a water management plan which the Department of Human Services plan to use as a blueprint for all other Victorian hospitals.”
Northern Health activities to reduce water use include retrofitting more than 2,000 pressure reducing valves across the four sites; installing 21 check meters to monitor water consumption; and reviewing water consumption on a monthly basis.
