LM and LM Knight

LM and LM Knight of West Heidelberg is introducing a water-wise product to the concrete cutting industry, which is expected to save the Victorian market about 450ML of water per annum. That’s equivalent to 450 Olympic sized swimming pools.

The fully integrated vacuum unit will recover ‘slurry’ generated during concrete cutting. It then separates the solid matter (soil and gravel) and liquid (water), storing both substances in respective chambers. The solid matter can then be disposed of safely and the water recycled for further use.

“Both our customers and other concrete cutting contractors want to do their bit towards water conservation, as well as ensure compliance with EPA regulations,” said LM and LM Knight proprietor, Lance Knight. “This is our way of recovering an estimated 75 per cent of the water used in the cutting process – the remaining 25 per cent will be lost to seepage, evaporation or spread beyond the practicable recovery area.”

The new product will likely be mounted on a five tonne tray truck that also allows loading of the concrete saw – in essence, the vehicle becomes a one-man, drive in/drive-out solution.
