Investa Property Group

With the aim to reduce its water consumption by 25 per cent in three years across nine portfolio properties, Investa Property Group installed 370 waterless urinals and attached 3,000 water flow restrictors to taps, hand-basins and showers.

Instead of using water, the waterless urinals use a microbial block called "Desert" to break down the mineral salt crustation that usually accumulates with urine. Each urinal is expected to save an average of 150kL per year, with a total anticipated water-saving up to 55.5ML once implementation is complete.

The water flow restrictors save a monthly average of 1,300kL of water – an additional estimated average saving of 15.6ML annually.

It also established a comprehensive integrated environmental management system.

“To track Investa’s energy, water and waste use in real-time, we have linked pulse meters to Investa’s web-based utilities management system,” says Mr Andrew Junor, General Manager, Asset Management Investa Property Group. “This allows us to actively manage our facilities and achieve environmental targets, as well as communicate to our tenants to align them with our sustainability practice.”
