The savewater!® Alliance is honoured to be hosting the 2011 Prime Minister’s Water Wise Award for the Australian Government Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.
The Australian Government recognises the immense challenge in tackling Australia’s water scarcity and the impact of climate change. Water for the Future is a comprehensive national response to meet these challenges in both rural and urban areas.
The Australian Prime Minister’s Water Wise Award, funded under Water for the Future, is the nation’s premier award recognising water efficiency excellence by commercial and industrial water users. As large users of water, these sectors play an important role in securing Australia’s water supplies. Typically, this sector consumes approximately 15 to 20 per cent of urban water in Australia.
Saving water in these sectors also results in productivity gains and net economic benefits.
The Award is part of the Water Efficiency Opportunities program being administered by the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities.
