| Splash 'n Save - The Secondary Filtering System for Swimming Pools Stacey Brothers Plumbing Pty Ltd |

The Splash 'n Save system is designed to eliminate water loss when cleaning a swimming pool by vacuuming or backwashing of a sand filter. The Splash 'n Save system is a method designed to save water on any new or existing sand filter installation. We install the system by using the waste drain line from the existing sand filter, leaving the existing drain line still in commission if needed to be used. We then set up the secondary filter which is a proper swimming pool cartridge filter. The filter that is used is determined by the size of the pool, the volume of the water and the litres per minute of the pump and the sand filter. On the outlet side of the cartridge filter it is then reconnected back into the main return line, back into the pool. All of the pipework is done above ground so there is no need for any digging or major construction. Our system helps pool owners when vacuuming their pool who choose to use the waste cycle and bypass their sand filter, instead of their water being wasted down the drain it can be diverted back into the secondary filter and returned back to the pool cleaned. And when backwashing of the sand filter is done that water can also be diverted back into the secondary filter and returned back into the pool cleaned. To clean the cartridge filter it's simply a matter of taking the cartridge out of the filter housing, taking it over to the grass or garden area, and hosing it out. An average backwash of a sand filter will use between 1000 and 1500 litres of water which would normally go down the drain, and then you would need to refill your pool, which would take the same amount of water again (eg 3000 litres). We understand that a pool owner could just remove their existing sand filter and install a cartridge filter to filter their pools. One of the main reasons the system was designed the way it was is because (1) pool owners have already paid good money for their existing sand filter, and sand filters are still the most user friendly and efficient way to filter any swimming pool, and; (2) being concerned about the environment we would not like to see perfectly good sand filters being discarded because they are constructed out of fibreglass or plastic they would just end up as rubbish in our landfill tips. By combining the two filtering systems together the sand filter is still the most user friendly and efficient way to filter your pool, and the cartridge filter will eliminate any water wastage when you are cleaning your pool or backwashing your sand filter.
