  Making rain harvesting and our environment better. The Rainwell RFD is an innovation for rain harvesting to deliver safety, time saving and environmental features. The system takes away the risks and hazards associated with rain tanks, and ensures our waterways are protected from water tank and roof litter contamination. Self-cleaning filtration replaces the tank’s leaf strainer, which can pose a safety risk to clean them and cause water loss and flood damage when left to accumulate roof litter. A cover over the leaf-strainer opening will prevent accidental entry and sunlight entering to inhibit algae growth. Diversion system replaces the tank’s overflow function, which would flush tank water into our waterways and cause environmental damage if the tank water was contaminated. Our waterways are further protected by only receiving filtered rainwater when the tank is full. To operate the Rainwell RFD is positioned on the downpipe using a horizontal level from the centre of the tank's overflow outlet to the rim of the Rainwell RFD's overflow diversion outlet. This position creates water flow pressure to the rain tank. Rain tank capacity is reached when the leveling effect of gravity raises the water level to the rim of the overflow diversion outlet - diverting the water flow away from the rain tank and into the downpipe. An inclined and contoured filter allows rainwater and gravity to move roof litter down its surface and out the opening. Contours also break water surface tension and expand the size of filter area to ensure effective rainwater flow-through in heavy rainfall and roof litter conditions. The Rainwell RFD is constructed using durable and recyclable materials, ensuring the Rainwell RFD's function and appearance are retained for decades in most Australian climatic conditions with minimal care, maintenance and environmental impact.
