The Irritrol Soil Moisture Sensor gives you the ability to know when and when not to water. The sensor is a water saving device. An automatic irrigation system works on fixed time scheduling and irrigates at that time regardless of the moisture content of the soil. Installing an Irritrol Soil Moisture Sensor will prevent the controller from activating the watering system until the soil is dry enough to require watering, saving both water and money!

The soil moisture sensor determines the soil moisture content by measuring the impedance of the soil between the two sensor pads. As the soil gets wetter, the impedance of the soil reduces. The sensor takes measurements of your soil and communicates this information by polling your controller every 12 minutes. A pre-set moisture level prevents the watering system from operating until the soil has become sufficiently dry. Connecting the soil moisture sensor is easy and simple and takes the guesswork out of irrigation scheduling.
