 The Drainwave is a device designed to reduce the volume of water required to flush conventional water closets (WC) and other solid waste away without affecting the effectiveness of existing conventional water borne sewage networks. The device integrates with the sewerage system and operates on the principal of collecting black and grey waste water from the various plumbing fittings, temporarily retaining the water and then discharging into the sewer system in a pulse flush method. Simply put it is a tipping bucket activated by gravity enclosed in a sealed box with an inlet and outlet point. This overcomes the problem of dry drains - pipe blockages as solid waste is bunched in the pipes as a result of reduced flow caused by the increasing trend to use low water use technologies. Other than installation costs the Drainwave requires no electricity to operate, requires no behavioural changes of the users and most importantly has a zero carbon footprint while in operation. The absolute key to the market appeal of the product is that it paves the way for low water use technologies (such as ultra low flush toilets and low water usage shower heads), without compromising drain lines (that are not designed for reduced water flow). The Company has a Board containing a robust skill set comprising technical engineering and quantity surveying skills, legal, marketing and general business skills. Ducane owns the intellectual property rights in the Drainwave. The Drainwave is the company’s major offering. Ducane successfully filed an Australian Provisional Patent Application, (no. 2006906729) on 30 November 2006. This has now progressed to International Patent Application PCT/AU2007/001838 which covers the Drainwave in 160 countries world-wide. Ducane also has design protection on the product in the countries were it has patent protection on the product.
