Mission H2O awards and media
We’re not the only ones that like Mission H20. This entertaining and educational game has already won a number of awards including a Webby Honoree, Premier’s Design Award, eLearning Industry Excellence Award and Swinburne University’s Vice Chancellor’s Award 2007.
Webby Honoree
The Webby Awards, the leading international honor for the Web, recognized Mission H2O as an Official Honoree in 2008, a distinction that recognizes work exhibiting remarkable achievement.
Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet" by the New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including Websites, Interactive Advertising, Online Film & Video, and Mobile Websites. The awards are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organization that includes David Bowie, Harvey Weinstein, Arianna Huffington, Matt Groening, Jamie Oliver, Internet inventor Vinton Cerf, and RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser.
Premier’s Design Award
The Premier’s Design Award for Multimedia was given to Mission H2O. Judges commented that Mission H2O “reflects a growing awareness of environmental sustainability and has approached the issue in a way that is functional and easy to use.” The Premier’s Design Awards are a biennial awards program developed by the Victorian State Government to recognise excellence in the realm of design practice in Victoria, and to communicate the value of good design to a broad public and business audience both locally and internationally.
eLearning Industry Excellence Awards
Mission H2O received the President’s Award. The recipient of the President's Award is chosen at the discretion of the president of the Association, Marc Niemes. It is awarded to the individual or team that has benefited the industry and community through their eLearning activities.
Swinburne University’s Vice Chancellor’s Award 2007
The Faculty of Design from Swinburne University received a teaching award for the Mission H2O project. The Vice-Chancellor’s Award reflects Swinburne’s commitment to quality and recognise excellence.

The Web Marketing Association awarded the Mission H2O project as an "outstanding achievement in website development."Since 1997, the Web Marketing Association’s annual WebAward Competition has been setting the standard of excellence for Website development. Independent expert judges from around the world review sites in 96 industries. The WebAward Competition is the premier award recognition program for Web developers and marketers worldwide.
The Communicator Awards is the leading international awards program honouring creative excellence for communications professionals and rewards the best in advertising, corporate communications, public relations and identity work for print, video, interactive and audio. Mission H2O won two Communicator Awards in 2009:
- Gold Award of Excellence (Interactive – Green/Eco Friendly category)
- Silver Award of Distinction (Interactive - Children’s Audience category)
