News imageMission H2O, an online interactive water saving ame created in Melbourne, has received two nternational awards.

The game won further acclaim earlier this month after receiving the 2009 Communicator Gold Award of Excellence (Interactive – Green/Eco Friendly category) and the Communicator Silver Award of Distinction (Interactive - Children’s Audience category).

The Communicator Awards is the leading international awards program honouring creative excellence for communications professionals and rewards the best in advertising, corporate communications, public relations and identity work for print, video, interactive and audio.

Developed for the savewater!® Alliance by 80 students and 5 lecturers from Swinburne University's Faculty of Design, the game took over 18,000 hours to complete - the equivalent of a person working full time for nearly 11 years. It is aimed at children and young adults to educate them in reducing water usage in the home.

Mr. Nigel Finney, CEO of the savewater!® Alliance is extremely pleased that Mission H2O is continuing to gain recognition around the world. “The game is not only connecting children both young and old from all over the world, but it also promotes the need to be water efficient in a changing environmental climate.”

The two Communicator Awards add to the numerous awards Mission H2O has already received; including a Webby Honouree, a Premier’s Design Award, an eLearning Industry Excellence Award and Swinburne University’s Vice Chancellor’s Award 2007.

As well as the game receiving global recognition, Victorian resident Deborah Simpson was announced winner of Mission H2O’s national competition. As part of her prize, Deborah received a trip for 2 adults and 2 children to Sea World, with 2 night’s accommodation at Vibe Hotel on the Gold Coast.
