Grow rice on optimum soils

Clay soils retain water and prevent seepage and deep drainage. The most frequently used criterion has been the percentage of clay in the soil. In a move toward a more accurate system, suitability is starting to be based on soil sodicity measured by exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP).
