Cotton-ing on to smarter watering

Andrew Parkes, managed to reduce his farm water use by 20% while at the same time increasing cotton yield. He aimed to improve water use efficiency by improving aspects of the irrigation process. Using different sized siphons to even out water levels and irrigation times across the fields and reducing the water budget from 10 to 8.5 megalitres per hectare Andrew was able to increase crop yield by 1.6 bales per megalitre with water savings of 1.2 megalitres per hectare.
