Regulations and Standards
While Regulations and Standards concerning water conservation and associated issues are relevant, they are usually left to manufacturers, tradespeople and others in industry to address.
There are a number of relevant Australian Standards including:
- Onsite domestic wastewater management AS/NZS 1547
- Plumbing and Drainage Set AS/NZS 3500 (Set)
- Water Efficient Product - Rating and Labelling AS/NZS 6400

- Standards AustraliaStandards Australia is an independent, not-for-profit organisation, recognised by the Australian Government as the peak non-government Standards body in Australia.
Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999
The EPBC Act is the Australian Government's central piece of environmental legislation. It provides a legal framework to protect and manage nationally and internationally important flora, fauna, ecological communities and heritage places defined in the Act as matters of national environmental significance.
