Definitions
- Mains water – water supplied by the local water authority
- Greywater (graywater, gray water or grey water) - water from the hand basin, shower, bath, spa bath, washing machine and laundry tub. Technically the kitchen sink and dishwasher are also considered greywater, however, water from the kitchen is generally too high in grease and oil to be reused successfully without significant treatment.
More in-depth definitions regarding greywater and rainwater can be found at the Australian Government National Water Commission website.
