Toilets, urinals, showers and taps are all required to display water conservation rating labels at the point of sale to assist you to compare models for water effiency.
The labelling system is easy to follow - the more stars, the more water efficient the product. The best rating possible for any product is 6 stars.
The most efficient toilets currently on the market hold a 4 star rating, as do most urinals (although one urinal, a Caroma model, has achieved a 6 star rating - as at 29 September 2006).
For showers, the highest current rating available is a 3 star rating, which means that the shower delivers no more than 9 L/min.
Taps with different ratings are available for different purposes (ie. the basin doesn't need a high flow rate, but you don't want to have to wait an hour to fill the bath) - the most efficient available taps have achieved a 6 star rating.
Use the WELS search tool (link below) to find water efficient products for your bathroom.
