Smart Gardening Ads

The savewater!® Alliance in partnership with the Nursery & Garden Industry has created four television community service announcements (CSAs) about sustainable gardening practices. The concept of the television campaign is 'valuing water' and promoting the idea of smart gardening, that will help us in the face of climate change.

Modern gardens need to cope with extremes and protect us from a harsh climate and these announcements are designed to promote gardening as an important part of peoples' lives, whilst encouraging sustainable gardening practices.

Choose warm season grasses

Warm season grasses such as Buffalo, Couch, and Kikuyu use to 60% less water than cool season grasses.

Don’t over water

Many plants are much tougher than you think and will go for quite long periods without additional watering.

Water roots, not leaves

Watering the roots of plants rather than the leaves is not only better for your plants but it helps save water by reducing windspray and evaporation.

Put the right plant in the right position

Putting the right plant in the right position in your garden will help ensure your plants are healthier and survive much better in the long term.
