These implementations and ongoing cleaner production measures have enabled ADC to achieve further sales growth and boost profitability.


Teamwork Delivering Improved Environmental Performance: Australian Country Spinners
Australian Country Spinners (ACS) implemented segregation of waste streams to recycle the clean wastewater within the plant, which has achieved a 44% reduction in water usage. Over a three-year period, water recycling and a range of cleaner production initiatives and methods such as low temperature dyeing technology have improved process efficiency translating to a savings in excess of $1.1 million dollars.


Pre-treatment Process Allows for the Recovery of Waste Products: Goulburn Wool Scour
Goulburn Wool Scour (GWS) has significantly minimized water consumption, up to 50% of rinse waste water is recycled with an energy saving that has cut 25% off the power bill reducing the annual bill to $300,000 for the whole plant. GWS implemented a pre-treatment process that allows the recovery of waste products for sale or use in the property, improving product quality, cut costs achieving industry leadership by adopting cleaner production measures.


Ultrasonic Humidifiers Reduce Water Usage for Heating and Cooling: Pacific Brand Apparel
Pacific Brand Apparel (PBA) installed ultrasonic humidifiers, which use ultrasound wave technology to vapourise water, reducing water and energy consumption. This system, which reduced water consumption for annual savings of $210,000, uses 93% less energy and CO2 savings at 2368 tonnes with a payback rate of only one year. This simple-to-install system provided PBA with close control of humidity, which increased productivity and increased savings by reducing production waste and lower production reject rate.
