Savings are measured in both real terms, and as water usage (kl) per car produced. Due to the development of a new water-borne Top Coat Painting Facility in 1999, water use increased. However once the new facility had been tested, and replaced the old facility, water use was reduced.

In 2000/2001 the target was 520ML of water used. This target was surpassed, with water use being 413ML. This represents a 27% reduction on 1998 levels of water use.
