Water and the Victorian 5 star standard
This standard requires energy and water conservation to be included in new homes and apartments built in Victoria
The 5 star standard has been introduced progressively since July 2004.
As of July 2005, compliance with the new residential standard requires a 5 Star energy rating for the building fabric plus water savings measures; and a rainwater tank or a solar hot water service.
Water saving measures include a minimum of AAA rated taps and showerheads, and a pressure reduction valve.
