Current programs

  • Keep South Australia Beautiful
    KESAB run a Clean Site program to minimise pollution from building and construction sites, including stormwater management.
  • Housing Industry Association Greensmart Program
    HIA runs the Greensmart Training and Accreditation program for builders. It covers issues such as sediment control during construction.
  • Construction site erosion and sediment control training
    The NSW Department of Lands runs training courses for developers, local councils and agencies. The courses cover construction site erosion and sediment control and are offered as part of their Conservation Earthworks Training Scheme.
  • Civil Contractors Federation Prequalification Program
    The prequalification program helps contractors and subcontractors meet quality management, Occupational Health and Safety and environmental management requirements on site. It is based on the Civil Construction Management Code.
  • Stormwater and Urban Water Conservation Fund
    The fund is managed by the Victorian Government, and will be used to ‘develop infrastructure, demonstration projects and education projects.’
  • Stormwater Industry Association of Australia
    The Association runs training courses and conferences in stormwater management.
  • Green Building and Design courses
    The Centre for Design at RMIT University runs regular courses on Green Building and Design, with an emphasis on commercial buildings.
  • Green Star Accredited Professional courses
    The Green Building Council of Australia runs regular courses on use of the Green Star rating tool.
  • 60L courses
    The ACF Green Building in Melbourne, 60L, run a workshop series called ‘Clean, Green and Healthy, including one on ‘Water & Wastewater at 60L: Design and Practise’.
  • Queensland Water Recycling Strategy
    Qld Government initiative to encourage safe, environmentally sustainable & cost-effective water recycling. Establishes a framework for water conservation & is developing tools, case studies, fact sheets & other information to support implementation.
  • CRC for Catchment Hydrology - Urban Stormwater Quality Program, Monash University
    aims to develop technology for improving urban stormwater quality through the evaluation of stormwater-management techniques and designing stormwater quality treatment systems, such as constructed wetlands, and biofiltration systems.
  • CSIRO - Urban Water Program
    Collaborative research program involving several CSIRO divisions. It aims to characterise existing water, wastewater & stormwater systems in an innovative way allowing opportunities for the fundamental improvement in their operation to be identified.
  • Urban Water Resources Centre
    The Urban Water Resources Centre (UWRC) undertakes research into collection, treatment, greywater recycling, storage, retrieval and use of urban water resources.
  • Institute for Sustainable Futures (ISF)
    ISF is working with Australian Greenhouse Office to assemble a set of technical guide materials for sustainable design and construction in the national residential building industry.
  • Oz Green, Stormwater Action Project
    The Stormwater Action Project raises awareness of stormwater pollution and the need to prevent pollution at the source.
  • The Australian Water Quality Centre
    The Australian Water Quality Centre provides expertise on water quality issues through an integrated service that includes sampling, analysis, advice and research.
  • National Water Quality Management Strategy
    This strategy provides the National perspective on water quality management, but also includes a list of useful downloadable publications and guidelines.
  • NSW Water Conservation Strategy
    The NSW Water Conservation Strategy is a State Government initiative that aims to promote the efficient use of water and its conservation by all water users. It provides the policy framework for developments in NSW.
