The savewater!® Alliance currently has Victorian and New South Wales regional and metropolitan water businesses as members. We are working towards a national membership base.

Victorian members

  • Barwon Water
    Barwon Water's area of responsibility covers more than 8,100 square kilometres, stretching from Little River and the Bellarine Peninsula in the east to Colac in the west, and from Meredith & Cressy in the north to Apollo Bay on the south-west coast.
  • Central Highlands Water
    Central Highlands Water provides water supply and wastewater treatment services to more than 120,000 customers in Victoria's central west. Central Highlands Water services the populations of Ballarat, Maryborough, Daylesford, Beaufort and surrounds.
  • City West Water
    City West Water provides water, sewerage and trade waste services to customers in Melbourne's central business district, inner and western suburbs.
  • East Gippsland Water
    East Gippsland Water provides water and wastewater services for the communities of East Gippsland. Geographically this covers an area from Bairnsdale to Dinner Plain in the north and Mallacoota in the eastern tip of Victoria.
  • Gippsland Water
    Gippsland Water's geographic region stretches from Drouin in the west, to Stratford in the east and from Mirboo North in the south, to Rawson and Briagolong in the north. The region supports a population base of around 133,000 people.
  • Goulburn Valley Water
    Goulburn Valley Water provides water and wastewater services to 54 towns and cities from the outskirts of Melbourne in the south to the Murray River in the north.
  • Lower Murray Water
    Lower Murray Water was established following the merger on the 1st of July 2004 of Lower Murray Region Water Authority (Urban Water) and Sunraysia Rural Water Authority (Rural Water).
  • North East Water
    North East Water provides water and sewerage services throughout a region that extends from Corryong in the east, along the Murray River to Yarrawonga, then south to Benalla and the alpine towns of Bright, Mt. Beauty and Dartmouth.
  • South East Water
    South East Water provides water and sewerage services to 1.3 million people in the south-east region of Melbourne.
  • South Gippsland Water
    South Gippsland Water seeks to support, or provide, relevant economic development infrastructure, environmentally sustainable water and wastewater services, and social benefits to customers and the wider community of the South Gippsland Region.
  • Wannon Water
    From July 1 2005, Glenelg Region Water, Portland Coast Water and South West Water merged to become Wannon Region Water Authority.
  • Western Water
    Western Water provides water and wastewater services to an area of approximately 3,000 square kilometres. This area extends from Lancefield in the north to Melton and Rockbank in the south, Myrniong in the west and Bulla in the east.
  • Westernport Water
    Westernport Water provides water, wastewater and gas services to approximately 15,000 properties on Phillip Island and an area of the mainland from The Gurdies to Archies Creek.
  • Yarra Valley Water
    YVW provides water supply and sewerage services to 1.5 million people who live and work in the Yarra River catchment area of Melbourne.

New South Wales members

  • Bathurst Regional Council
    Council aims to supply a clean, safe & secure water supply to the people of Bathurst in a way that meets their needs, in an efficient, cost effective manner which maximises the potential benefits of the resource & satisfies natural ecosystem needs.
  • Bega Valley Shire Council
    The Bega Valley Shire extends from Wallaga Lake (Bermagui) in the north to Cape Howe and the Victorian border in the south.
  • Bellingen Shire Council
    Bellingen Shire Council is responsible for providing its NSW Mid North Coast community with water and sewerage, along with a range of other environmental, social and infrastructure services.
  • Bogan Shire Council
    Bogan's council aims to provide a comfortable country lifestyle by progressively improving the level of appropriate facilities and services and to encourage growth and economic development that is responsive to the needs of the community.
  • Bourke Shire Council
    The Bourke Shire Council provides community services to its residents located on the banks of the Darling River in North West New South Wales. Its mission is “to build a strong, united community, proud of [its] past, and committed to [its] future”. The town remains a vital link for agriculture in the west and larger cities to the east.
  • Brewarrina Shire Council
    Brewarrina Shire Council provides leadership and guidance to the community while managing services such as water, planning, and development. Its mission is “to provide local employment, investment opportunities, enhance lifestyle and an improved social framework by encouraging the development of the local community and its infrastructure”.
  • Central Tablelands Water
    Central Tablelands Water is the trading name adopted by Central Tablelands County Council, a water supply authority constituted under NSW Local Government legislation. It is located in the Central West of NSW ranging from Blayney to Grenfell.
  • Clarence Valley Council
    North Coast Water is a Local Government regional water supply authority for the Clarence Valley, located in the Northern Rivers Area of NSW.
  • Cobar Shire Council
    Cobar Shire is situated in the centre of New South Wales at the crossroad of two highways and has excellent road, rail, and air links to most Australian capital cities. Its council provides sound and sensible government and ensures that works and services are delivered effectively and equitably to the community.
  • Coffs Harbour City Council
    Coffs Harbour Water is a business unit of Coffs Harbour City Council that manages the water supply and wastewater operations throughout the city. It was formed in June 2002 to encourage a more sustainable use of water in the city.
  • Cooma-Monaro Shire Council
    Cooma-Monaro Shire Council provides water services to the township of Cooma situated only one hour from the Mountains, Canberra and the Coast, and only 4 hours to Sydney.
  • Deniliquin Council
    Deniliquin Council is responsible for providing appropriate services and facilities to the community, including water and sewerage, and to ensure that those services and facilities are managed efficiently and effectively.
  • Dubbo City Council
    Dubbo City Council is a leading Council in one of the fastest growing inland cities in Australia. Its mission is to manage Dubbo’s growth in an ecologically sustainable manner to meet the service and lifestyle needs of residents and visitors.
  • Eurobodalla Shire Council
    Eurobodalla Shire Council serves a thriving community of 35,000 people on the South Coast of NSW, around 4 hours south of Sydney. Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma are the main towns in the Shire.
  • Forbes Shire Council
    The township of Forbes, situated on the Newell Highway and on the banks of the Lachlan River in the heart of the rich Lachlan Valley, is fast becoming popular with those seeking a ‘tree-change’; drawn to the region by economic benefit and lifestyle opportunities. Its council, in pursuit of sustained economic development in the shire, is responsible for town planning, building approvals, local roads, parking, public toilets, water and sewerage, waste removal, domestic animals and community facilities.
  • Gilgandra Shire Council
    Gilgandra council’s objective is to maintain and develop infrastructure assets to continually improve the quality of life for all residents of the Shire through strategic planning and appropriate resource allocation for functions, including providing a potable water supply; continuous, adequate flow; and continuous monitoring and review.
  • Gunnedah Shire Council
    The Shire of Gunnedah in the North West of New South Wales covers an area of 5,092 square kilometres and has a population of around 12,000. The Gunnedah Shire Council is committed to environment preservation, while at the same time incorporating town expansion.
  • Hunter Water Corporation
    Hunter Water is a State-owned Corporation providing water and wastewater services for over half a million people in the lower Hunter region.
  • Kempsey Shire Council
    Kempsey is a community which values its quality of life and strives to care for its beautiful valley and beach environment. Kempsey Shire Council aims to provide drinking water to the National Health & Medical Research Council standards to residences and businesses and collect, treat and manage the reclaimed water in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.
  • Lachlan Shire Council
    Lachlan Shire is nestled in the heart of New South Wales and includes the towns of Condobolin, Lake Cargelligo, and the villages of Tottenham, Tullibigeal, Burcher, Albert, and Fifield. Lachlan Shire Council covers an area of 15,000 square kilometres and is responsible for providing water and sewerage, recycling, and other related services to this area.
  • Lithgow City Council
    The Lithgow Local Government Area consists of 4,551 square kilometers, and a population of 19,756. Lithgow City Council distributes potable water to it's customers from the Farmer's Creek No. 2 Reservoir.
  • MidCoast Water
    MidCoast Water administers an area of some 7000 square kilometres, from North Karuah to Johns River taking in the communities of Taree, Wingham, Harrington, Forster, Tuncurry, Bulahdelah, Stroud and Tea Gardens including surrounding villages.
  • Mid-Western Regional Council
    The Mid-Western Region covers an area of more than 9,000 square kilometres and includes the towns of Gulgong, Kandos, Mudgee and Rylstone, with a combine population of 22,000. Mid-Western Regional council aims to provide a high quality, sustainable water supply to the community for domestic use.
  • Moree Plains Shire Council
    The Shire of Moree Plains, located on the NSW and Qld border, is one of the largest local government areas in NSW. It is a progressive dynamic community, boasting strong agricultural industries in cotton, grain, oilseeds and pecan nuts.
  • Murray Shire Council
    The Murray Shire is almost entirely surrounded by the Murray River & its tributaries. The Shire Council provides water to 2660 customers.
  • Muswellbrook Shire Council
    The Water & Sewerage business unit supplies reticulated water to Musswellbrook, Denman & Sandy Hollow, and sewerage services to Musswellbrook & Denman. Water comes from reservoirs off Coal Rd (22ML) & the Acacia reservoir (2ML) for South Muswellbrook.
  • Nambucca Shire Council
    Nambucca Shire Council is situated on the NSW mid-north coast & provides water to 6,130 customers from Valla Beach down to Scotts Head on the Coast.
  • Narrabri Shire Council
    Narrabri Shire covers an area of some 13,065 sq km and is the heart of the rich Namoi Valley in north west NSW. The area is renowned for its wealth in the production of some of the world's highest quality cotton, beef, wheat, fat lambs and wool.
  • Narrandera Shire Council
    Narrandera Shire Council provides water services to 2010 customers.
  • Narromine Shire Council
    Narromine Shire Council is one of the 12 councils in the North Western region of New South Wales, and provides council services to Narromine and its surrounding towns and villages. Neighbouring shires include Dubbo, Parkes, and Warren shires.
  • Orange City Council
    Orange is a modern city that has grown from its rich mining past. It supports a population of 38,000 people and provides water from the Spring Creek and Icely Road Water Filtration Plants.
  • Parkes Shire Council
    The Shire of Parkes is located in the Central West of New South Wales, Australia. Parkes Shire Council is responsible for the Parkes/Peak Hill Water Supply System, which supplies the towns of Parkes and Peak Hill, as well as the villages of Alectown and Cookamidgera. In addition, Council also manages the water supply to the villages of Bogan Gate, Trundle, Tullamore and rural consumers in between. This system is known as the 'B' section pipeline, which carries water from Forbes.
  • Port Macquarie-Hastings Council
    Port Macquarie-Hastings Council manages water supply, sewerage schemes and septic waste treatment to serve the residents and businesses in the council's region which includes Port Macquarie, Camden Haven and Wauchope.
  • Riverina Water County Council
    Riverina Water County Council is responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of works of water supply within the shires of Greater Hume, Lockhart, and Urana and the City of Wagga Wagga. It is responsible for environmental protection in relation to all its works and activities, and believes in the wider responsibility to eliminate any inefficient or wasteful practices in the use of water.
  • Rous Water
    Rous Water provides drinking quality water to over 100, 000 people in the local government areas of Lismore, Ballina, Byron and Richmond Valley, on the NSW North Coast.
  • Singleton Council
    Located in the centre of the Hunter Valley region of NSW, Singleton enjoys a pleasant lifestyle with a moderate climate. The busy commercial centre supports a vibrant industrial sector, based largely on coal mining and electricity generation.
  • Snowy River Shire Council
    Snowy River Shire Council covers an area of 6059 square kilometres in New South Wales’ south east. It provides water and services to a community of over 7000 residents, with key values in openness, equity, teamwork, integrity, efficiency, service, and respect.
  • Tamworth Regional Council
    Tamworth Regional Council currently supplies water for the Attunga, Barraba, Bendemeer, Manilla, Moonbi/Kootingal, Nundle and Tamworth, and operates five wastewater treatment plants in the region.
  • Tumut Shire Council
    Tucked in south west NSW, the Tumut region is spectacular in natural beauty and diversity. As over half of the Shire is State Forest, National Parks or water storage, Council is committed to developing the region's economy based on natural assets.
  • Tweed Shire Council
    Tweed Shire Council strives to meet its water provision responsibilities through a strategic framework of integrated water cycle management, demand management, user pays water pricing and long term activity management plans for capital works and maintenance. Council acknowledges ecological sustainability and caring for the environment as intrinsic components of community expectations and statutory obligations.
  • Upper Hunter Shire Council
    The Upper Hunter Shire, located 160klms north of Newcastle, encompasses the towns of Aberdeen, Merriwa, Murrurundi, Scone and many other small villages. The shire covers an area of 8,100square kilometres and has a population of approximately 14,500 people. The Upper Hunter boasts many national parks including Barrington Tops and also the popular Lake Glenbawn, which holds 750,000 mega litres of water at 100% capacity.
  • Walgett Shire Council
    Walgett Shire Council is responsible for water and sewerage services for Walgett, Lightening Ridge and the surrounding areas.
  • Warren Shire Council
    Warren Shire is situated on the banks of the Macquarie River and can be located on the Oxley Highway 120kms north-west of Dubbo. Warren Shire Council is not only concerned with water, but also with waste, recycling and the protecting the environment. It also provides a variety of community services to its residents.
  • Wellington Council
    Wellington is located about 50kms south-east of Dubbo. Wellington Council provides water, waste, recycling and general environmental and community services to the residents of Wellington.

Queensland members

  • Queesland Urban Utilities
    Queensland Urban Utilities is the largest water retail-distributor in Queensland incorporating the Brisbane, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley,Scenic Rim and Somerset Council areas. Queensland Urban Utilities provides services to more than 520,000 connections and employs 1200 staff with over $4 billion worth of assets.

Northern Territory

  • Power and Water Corporation
    Power and Water is the Northern Territory's premier provider of water and sewerage services, supplying five major and 13 minor centres.

Tasmania

  • Cradle Mountain Water
    Cradle Mountain Water began operation on 1 July 2009 after the water and wastewater operations of the nine north western councils merged with former bulk water authority Cradle Coast Water. As a result, we manage, operate and maintain water and wastewater services in North West Tasmania - from Latrobe to Strahan.
  • Southern Water
    Southern Water is the new council owned water and wastewater corporation in southern Tasmania. They are Tasmania’s largest water and wastewater service provider, servicing over 90,000 customers in 12 southern council areas.
